Product Watch October and November

Welcome to my dairy free product watch for October and November. This is my last product watch of regular products for 2017! It will be onto the Christmas products very soon and I already of tons of Christmas treats to write about!

I’m mostly bringing you ice-cream this edition even though it’s cold outside and not really the time of year! Dairy Free Ice-cream has come into its own lately with two to three options in the freezers in each of my local supermarkets, how amazing is that! And of course the arrival of Ben & Jerry’s Dairy Free Blends have been met with applause for the taste and boo for the price but I think it is great to have it for special occasions. Especially for people who used to have dairy and now miss things like this! Have you found anything new on the free from aisle lately?

Swedish Glace Almond with a Cocoa Twist

Swedish Glace

I don’t know if this flavour is new to Swedish Glace, but it was certainly a new find for us! We found in SuperValu Gorey. Almond with a cocoa twist is much closer to dairy ice-cream than some of their other flavours. The boys loved it of course.

Ben and Jerry’s Non-Dairy

Ben Jerrys Non Dairy

We’ve been waiting for this for a long time! I finally found some in my local Tesco last month. At over €7, it was to be a one-off treat, you know for blog research purposes! The boys loved it.. and I found it very very close to real Ben & Jerry’s. The peanut butter and oreo-style cookies make for a delicious combination. If you are looking in your local store, you may find it in with the regular dairy Ben & Jerry’s. I almost missed it as I was expecting it to be separate with the other dairy free ice-creams. One of the boys tasted the Chunky Monkey one a few days later in his aunt’s house, but I wasn’t with him so no photos and no taste for me! The good news is Tesco Ireland have this on special offer at €5 until early December. I will be getting some for Christmas but it’s definitely too early to stock up as it wouldn’t last around here!

Full ingredients for the Peanut Butter & Cookies flavour:

Water, sugar, vegetable oils (coconut, PEANUT, sunflower), PEANUT paste and pieces (9%), glucose syrup, WHEAT flour, ALMOND paste (2%), cocoa powder, pea protein, vanilla extract, emulsifiers (sunflower lecithin, SOY lecithin), salt, raising agent (sodium bicarbonate), stabilisers (guar gum, locust bean gum), natural flavouring. May contain other nuts.

Tesco Free From Rocky Road Mini Bites

Tesco Rocky Road Mini Bites

We spotted these in the Free From aisle in Tesco lately. Free from Gluten, Dairy, Egg and Wheat. They do contain Soya. We haven’t tried them yet but they look very nice, maybe a handy one to have for kids parties or when calling somewhere (If you don’t have time to make yourself!).

Sweetpea Pantry Grainy Brainy Pancake Mix

SweetPea Pantry Grainy Brainy Pancake Mix

Sweetpea Pantry sent us their pancake mix made with Buckwheat and Flax to try. All the ingredients were in the box , we just added almond milk and an egg. The mix is free from Gluten and Dairy.  The pancakes were delicious, just as nice as regular pancakes and much more filling. We were sent some of their Super Duper Brownie Mix also but we haven’t tried it out yet. Do check out their free from section on their website, lovely high quality healthy products.  You can buy them on their online store or from Sainsbury’s or M&S Food.

Napolina Pizza Bases

Napolina Pizza Bases

I got these in Tesco, noticed they are dairy free. The boys love pizza, sometimes with Violife or Nature Moi cheese or sometimes with no cheese at all, and having the pizza bases is super handy to make lunch in a hurry. They love to put their own toppings on.

That’s it for this product watch. Will have an updated Advent Calendar post in the next few days so watch this space.

Pin this for later:
