Guide to bringing your own Free From Party Lunch box

My first ever post on dairy free kids was Bringing a Party Luncbox, the Quick Way.  At the time it was difficult enough to find nice dairy free treats to bring along to a party. Now, just 2 years later there is so much choice out there. There is a choice of cakes or buns available to buy off the shelves, even individually wrapped ones if you don’t want to bring a full cake. There is much more dairy free chocolate available even some marketed for kids, and there are lots of other free from products to choose from.

I just have to share this: we were at a party yesterday and joy of joy the cake and buttercream had been made with margarine rather than butter so my boys were able to have some of the lovely hedgehog cake. The 3 year old was so delighted with himself. My friend had also bought in free from white and chocolate buttons for him from Tesco. Such a superstar! Anyone whose kids usually exclusively eat from their own party lunchbox will know what it means to be included like this.

Here’s some suggestions for what to include if your child is dairy free or dairy & gluten free or dairy & egg free. I often throw a few dairy free fairy cakes or some slices of cake into the freezer when I bake a batch. I can thaw out in the fridge the day before a party then and we are ready to go.
