Nothing But. Review and Giveaway
|I recently published a copy of the short-list for the ‘Designed for Children’ category of the Free From Food Awards 2016. The most intriguing product on the list had to be these freeze-dried fruit and veg snacks. They are called ‘Nothing but.‘ because guess what, that’s all that’s in the bags, fruit or veg which has had the water removed. No added oil, sugar, or anything. Nothing but. like it says on the tin. They simply remove the water from the fruit or vegetable in question and pack it.
The flavours
Apple & Fig
Pineapple & Grape
Sliced Beetroot and Parsnip
Mange Tout & Red Pepper
Strawberry & Banana
Pea & Sweetcorn
Nothing But. sent us some samples to try and a fab prize to offer to my readers!
What we thought
I really liked these, I love the idea of them, they are delicious and make a great snack. The kids loved them but as expected preferred the fruity ones to the veg ones, although the beetroot and parsnip one was popular! My own favourite was the pineapple and grapes. They are healthy as there is nothing added so I’d have no qualms letting the kids snack away on them. They come in handy little bags which are good for lunch boxes to make a change or an addition to fresh fruit. One pack is one of your five a day, so this might help your little one eat up their vegetables if they are inclined to be fussy eaters. The snacks are also very low-calorie for the quantity so would make a great snack if you are watching calories.
Where to get them
They are available in retail outlets throughout the UK but are not in Ireland yet. You can find a list of stockists here and they can be bought online from: Ainley Organics or Free From Market
