I found a gem of a shop in Gorey this week. I was aware of its existence but didn’t realise what I was missing. The shop is Small Changes. They sell eco products and organic wholefoods. All their products are also available to order from their website. They have a wide range of dairy free and gluten free goods. If there’s a product you’d like and they don’t already stock it, they can almost always order it in for you. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They have a range of Meridan sauces including a dairy free pesto.

Meridian Pesto

Priced at  €2.50 which is comparable with pesto you’d buy in the supermarket, it is made with cashew nuts and contains no cheese. I have bought a jar and have tasted it, it is delicious, I will be trying it on the kids over the weekend. My older boy loves pasta pesto. The other Meridian sauces available are Sundried tomato, Tikka Masala, Korma and Creamy Mushroom and White sauce. Definitely handy to have a couple in the cupboard when you want a quick meal.

Nobó dairy free ice-cream

This dairy free ice-cream is the brainchild of Rachel and Brian from Dublin – here’s what they say about the taste:

“We are determined not only to deliver the purest and most nutritious alternative to dairy ice cream, but importantly one that is also creamy, indulgent, and tastes incredibly good. This is what we will always strive to do.” 

I have yet to taste them myself but I hope to do so very soon. The Chocolate and Toasted Almond sounds amazing. The other flavours are Fresh Lemon and Vanilla and Coconut. You can find the list of stockists here. Pester your shops to get them in.

Coyo Coconut Milk Yoghurts.

These come in a range of flavours – pineapple, mango, mixed berries, natural and cacao (raw chocolate). They are dairy free, gluten free, soy free and nut free.

The yogurts are available in many health food shops. You can find their list of stockists both Irish and British here. They are also available in Waitrose stores in the UK.

McVities Gingerbread Men  

My friend brought these bags of mini gingerbread men when she and her children came for a playdate recently, the kids all loved them. They come in a bag of 6 mini bags and are available in all the usual supermarkets. Thumbs up from our boys. Note they may contain milk.
