Groove Festival and a Giveaway!

groove festival

We’re big fans of music festivals and of bringing the kids along even when camping is involved. It has all become part of the adventure and we have been bringing the boys since number 1 was barely walking. With Ireland exploding with music festivals over the last few years, I often talk to people who’d be turned off by the prospect of camping with kids or of having them there all night at a festival. With my favourite Electric Picnic becoming less child friendly over the last few years as the festival has grown to huge numbers, we have been on the hunt for smaller more family friendly events.

Groove Festival

Enter Groove Festival in Bray. Held over two days, Groove is an alternative to camping festivals. You can buy one or two day passes but you go home in between. It is held in the stunning Kilruddery Estate in Bray and is very accessible by public transport with a shuttle bus from the DART station and if you’re driving there’s a big car park right behind the venue,  you don’t have to walk miles and if I remember rightly the car park was free last year. Best of all it is a FAMILY FRIENDLY festival, there was tons of stuff geared towards kids last year with even more promised this year.

There will be a kids tent with arts and crafts, facepainting, balloon animals and giant bubbles ongoing and timetabled events from 12pm to 6pm each day including discos, magic shows, puppet shows and much more.

They have also partnered with Hell and Back for outdoor activities like kayaking, hang-touch, archery and bushcraft. Some of the outdoor activities last year required tickets, not sure if it will be the same next year but I veered my children mainly to the free stuff included mostly in the tent and didn’t involve queueing.

LineUp

The lineup this year is amazing. Fun Lovin’ Criminals, The Riptide Movement and Something Happens all play on Saturday and The Stunning and Heather Small of M People headline on Sunday. I’m going along on Saturday with the boys, we can’t wait. For the full line up head over to Groove’s website.

Food

When have you ever seen a big DAIRY FREE sign like this at a festival? Right! Possibly worth going for that alone. I was excited anyway. The Garden of Vegan stall will be there again this year with their range of vegan fayre. The Vegan Kitchen and Saba will also be there so there should be plenty of dairy free options.
