Ready Meals for 1 – 3 year olds

Providing healthy dairy free food for your kids can be all about sourcing good ingredients and cooking and baking yourself but there are occasions in our busy lifestyles when it’s all about convenience. Days out, trips to someone’s house for dinner, when you don’t want to be fussing over whether they’ve added butter to the mashed potatoes or not, visits to a restaurant where there’s likely to be little dairy free choice, and four hour car trips across country to visit grandparents are all occasions when I might use the handy ready meals. Fortunately there are a lot of choices for toddler food now, here are some examples. I have focused on the 10 month+ and 1-3years age groups as that’s where my little man is at the moment.

Ella’s Kitchen are organic and tasty (yes, I’ve tasted them myself!) and the dairy free flavours include: Lovely Lamb, Beef Stew, Cottage Pie,  Thai Curry and Caribbean Chicken.

Heinz’ 1-3 year selection is kinder on the pocket, the dairy free flavours we have tried are Sunday Chicken Dinner and Sweet Potato and Lean Beef Hotpot. My little man enjoyed the chicken dinner but wasn’t too keen on the sweet potato one.

From the Organix range, my 21 month old tried the Pork Meatballs, he loved it.

While I don’t like giving too much convenience food to my children and  I do get mammy guilt from it sometimes, it is handy to have one or two of these in the press for when needed.
